How to Hire
**Following the re-opening of stores, we have received an overwhelming amount of hirewear bookings and are currently unable to take any new bookings for events before the end of October. Please get in touch with our hirewear team today to discuss any future bookings.
At Slater Menswear we pride ourselves on customer service and our main aim is to take the pain out of finding the right Kilt or Suit for your special event, be it a wedding, prom, graduation or evening occasion. Below is the step by step process of how to hire with Slater Formal Hire.
You don't have to make an appointment to have a hire consultation at Slater Menswear. Simply visit your local store at a time to suit you and we will take it from there. If you have a large party or group that will be involved in the booking, feel free to contact us prior to your visit to store and they will be able to help you further.
It's good to have some idea of the kind of style you are interested in before you visit us. Whether it is Classic Morningwear for a Wedding party, a Traditional Kilt for a Prom or Tuxedo for an evening event. This is not essential however and our Trained Hirewear Advisors will be able to steer you in the right direction for your event.
PLEASE NOTE we do not carry an example of every hire style in store in every size so we will use a close example when fitting you. Your advisor will measure you and have you try on a sample size to ensure you get the right fit before we place your order.
If you are a Groom and planning a Wedding, we suggest you bring along the Bride and swatches of any colour scheme you have in mind. We do allow for the Groom to bring along Groomsmen and any other male members of the party together for a group fitting however this will take longer and you will need to set aside time in your day for this fitting.
On booking of your outfits we request 50% of the total hire cost. You can pay the full balance on booking if you wish. The remaining amount will be paid on collection.
It is never too soon to book your hire however as a guide we would advise at least 3-4 months in advance of the event for large parties such as Weddings with the last member of the party making their booking and fitting at least 4 weeks before the event to ensure we have all the matching items in store well with good time.
For individual hire customers we recommend the same however we can do some hires at shorter notice and at the very latest a week before the event.
Your hire will arrive in store at least 2-3 days before the event and your store will call the person responsible for the booking to advise of its arrival and to suggest the customer come back in for a final fitting and to collect the hire.
The garments need to be returned to us by 9am on the second day after the event. Don't worry about dry cleaning or anything like this; all our hirewear is professionally cleaned on its return.
