Free Alterations

At Slater Menswear we always want our customers to feel great in what they are wearing. To us, this means the right style, the right shape, the right colour and most importantly the right fit. Within every Slater Menswear store, we provide a Free Alterations Service to our customers, on all tailoring purchased online or from any of our stores, ensuring you get the right fit every time. Our expert team of in-house tailors and seamstresses ensure each garment is altered to the fit and comfort of the customer, from shortening trousers, to tailoring jackets and waistcoats.

Our suits are sold as a complete package and as standard trousers will be 6” smaller than the chosen jacket chest size. This allows us to continue to offer quality suits for great value, along with the added benefit of being a more sustainable way of manufacturing and selling suits. By selling suits as a package with the option to alter, instead of selling separates, we reduce the number of garments that are not sold throughout the season due to mismatched sizing and ultimately end up in land fill.

Generally, trousers can be altered by either letting out, or taking in by 2", but we always recommend checking with a member of staff on specific styles of suits.

You can advantage of our Free Alterations Service completely free of charge in-store at the point of purchase, or within 28 days when ordering your suit online. Simply bring along your order confirmation to your nearest store where our trained staff will assist with your alteration needs.* 

Our current turnaround for alterations is 10-14 days. Please confirm timing with an in-store advisor, and let us know of any time constraints as far in advance as possible. Please note that if multiple suits need to be altered, for example, a Wedding Party, alterations may take up to 4 weeks to complete. Timescales for completing alterations may vary in peak periods due to increased demand. 

*All items submitted for alterations must be unworn. For any items ordered online, we cannot carry out alterations before they are despatched to you, you must visit a store in person with your required items.
